Thurso High School is the most northerly secondary school on the Scottish mainland serving the town of Thurso and the surrounding rural area which includes the villages of Castletown, Halkirk and Reay. It is a non-denominational, six-year comprehensive with just over 950 pupils at present.

   
               
     


OUR AIMS

Thurso High School aims to be a caring community and challenging environment in which all feel valued and have the self confidence, motivation and opportunity to fulfill their potential. To achieve this we will promote: 

  1. Achievement and attainment by providing an environment conducive to effective learning and teaching which ensures opportunities for all students. 

  2. A modern and flexible curriculum which offers both academic and vocational opportunities and develops our students’ interpersonal skills.

  3. The development in students of the skills and aptitudes which they will require to play their parts as involved citizens of a modern democratic society.

  4. A strong sense of community among pupils, staff, parents and school partners encouraging a sense of belonging and a positive ethos.

  5. A consistent approach from staff to their work and the implementation of  rules and policies with particular regard to equality and fairness.

  6. Effective communications within the school and with its community.
